All-Wheel-Drive on demand

The intelligent active on-demand AWD is optional with the 1.4 Turbo and the 1.6 CDTI. The system consists of the Power Take-off Unit (PTU) at the transmission, the driveshaft to the rear axle, the Rear Drive Module (RDM) and the Torque Transfer Device (TTD). In on-demand situations the TTD can transfer up to 50 percent of the available torque to the rear wheels, controlled by the Rear Drive Control Module (RDCM), which is fully integrated with all dynamic control systems like ABS and ESP®Plus. The TTD features electromagnetic clutches that distribute torque ratio changes of front and rear axle continuously from 100/0 to 50/50 in real time depending on vehicle status and road conditions.

 

In normal driving conditions the power is delivered to the front wheels only for good economy. Whenever necessary, additional torque to the rear wheels provides maximal traction and stability.

Powered to suit you

The Opel Mokka offers advanced petrol and diesel engines, all of them Euro 6 certified. If your preference is for petrol the choices are a 1.6 ECOTEC® with 85 kW (115 hp) and 1.4 Turbo unit with 103 kW (140 hp). In addition to the frugal 1.6 CDTI diesel option with 81 kW (110 hp), there is also the refined 1.6 CDTI with 100 kW (136 hp) that delivers a useful and impressive 320 Nm of torque. Whatever your choice the reflexive nature coupled with everyday economy means you are driving a winning combination.

 

The big news comes with the transmission. This new Gen3 6-speed automatic gearbox is available for the 1.6 CDTI and the 1.4 Turbo. This supremely efficient, smooth changing lightweight unit actively recognizes and adjusts to the drivers driving style, recognizing when maximum acceleration or maximum economy is wanted.

Start/Stop System to save fuel

The Start/Stop System optimizes fuel savings, especially in city traffic. The engine stops when the car comes to a standstill with transmission in neutral and starts instantly as soon as the clutch pedal is being activated again. The system can be activated/deactivated via a button on the instrument panel. When the system is active and the engine is stopped, the rev-counter needle goes to the labelled “AUTOSTOP” position to signal readiness for automatic start. The Start/Stop System uses an enhanced generator, starter, and a specific battery.


Control your consumption

The ecoFLEX Drive Assist shows you exactly when to shift for maximum economy, but it also does more. It shows the equipment that is using the most energy together with the fuel consumption history for the previous 50 kilometers. For this it has three sub-menus that are shown in the central display between the instruments.

 

Eco Index and up-shift display

The left graphic shows the current level of economy. Maximum economy is achieved when all the vertical panels are lit. The arrow shows when to shift up for maximum fuel economy.

 

Additional energy consumption

This shows the additional consumption for the electrical systems currently in use. The average economy is also shown.

 

Fuel consumption statistics

The efficiency of the driving pattern for the last 50 kilometers is shown in 5 km segments. The higher the level of the graphic elements, the higher the level of consumption, that way you can perfectly gauge you own driving efficiency.
