Efficient “downsized” engines combine the benefits of lower fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions with more performance.
For some drivers the environment comes before everything else. If you share this commitment Opel Meriva offers a real choice. The Opel Meriva ecoFLEX with the 1.3 CDTI engine with 70 kW (95 hp) and Start/Stop System cuts CO2 emissions to just 109 g/km and is the most economical and environmentally friendly way to enjoy the Opel Meriva.
All petrol engines feature lightweight components and advanced technologies such as dual cam phasing for good performance and low consumption. The 1.4 Turbo engine with 88 kW (120 hp) is also available with a Liquefied Petrole-um Gas (LPG) system, which almost doubles the range between fill-ups, and also considerably reduces fuel costs. The 103 kW (140 hp) 1.4 Turbo engine is enhanced by an overboost function that delivers extra performance on demand for short periods. All Meriva petrol engines optionally feature Opel fuel-saving Start/Stop technology.
For fans of diesel power there is a broad range of common rail diesel engines, from the frugal 1.3 CDTI versions to the 1.7 CDTI with 96 kW (130 hp) and impressive 300 Nm torque. The Start/Stop System is available for the 1.3 CDTI with 70 kW (95 hp) and the 1.7 CDTI engines with 81 kW (110 hp) and 96 kW (130 hp).
A running engine in a stationary car consumes fuel and emits CO2 emissions. Opel’s Start/Stop System automatically stops the engine when the car comes to a standstill. The engine promptly restarts as soon as the clutch is engaged.
The high-mounted gear shifter enables positive, smooth shifting with the 5- and 6-speed manual transmissions, making gear changing a pleasure. A 6-speed automatic transmission is offered with the 1.7 CDTI with 81 kW (110 hp). On the road, it adapts itself to the style of the driver and the conditions, while in addition ActiveSelect® lets the driver shift manually.
