Electrifying combination: Opel Ampera and Katie Melua live

The series production version of the Opel Ampera that just made its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show will accompany Katie Melua on her tour. Cocnert goers can look forward to an exciting pre-concert experience, as they will be able to see the revolutionary extended-range electric vehicle that eliminates range-anxiety up close. Opel also has a number of surprises in store like a DVD and the possibility to download pictures of both stars of the evening over Bluetooth. And Katie Melua fans can also send a live video from the concert to their friends at the Facebook counter.

“Katie Melua is an exceptional artist. She fits to our brand and gives it a face. We offer her fans real added value with our special activities at her concerts,” says Alain Visser, Opel Vice President Sales, Marketing and Aftersales. “We stand for values like innovation, dynamics, environmental awareness and social responsibility – values that Katie Melua represents very credibly and authentically.”
“I like the way Opel addresses topics like environmental protection and sustainability while at the same time communicating emotion and a zest for life. I already had the chance to drive the series production version of the Ampera, and I was really impressed with it,” says the singer.

Internationally respected as an advocate for environmental protection and charitable activities, Katie Melua has firmly established herself among the ranks of international music stars with her unique and unmistakeable style. She has already won an impressive collection of awards during her relatively young career. These include the “Echo” (Most Successful Newcomer International) and the “DVD Champion” (Category Music Artist Award), both in 2005, the Dutch “Edison Award” 2006 (Best International Singer), the World Music Award 2006 (most successful British female singer worldwide), the “Golden Camera” (Best International Musician) and another “Echo” (Best Artist International Rock/Pop), both in 2007.
